Background

Powerlec Kenya 2024 marked a pivotal moment in Africa’s renewable energy narrative, taking place from November 13–15, 2024, at the Sarit Expo Centre, Nairobi. Under the banner “Kenya's Mega Green Plan for 100% Renewables by 2030: Building a Collaborative Ecosystem”, the event positioned Kenya as a regional powerhouse in the push for clean energy.

Bringing together over 250 key stakeholders — including government officials, investors, technology providers, and civil society — Powerelec aimed to accelerate the continent's clean energy transition. The summit focused on strategic dialogues and innovative solutions in solar, wind, geothermal, e-mobility, and energy storage, all while emphasising public-private partnerships as the cornerstone of progress.

Crestwood Communications served as the official communications partner, leading pre-event visibility, live media coordination, and post-event publicity to elevate the event’s message across the continent and beyond.

Services Offered

  • Strategic Media Engagement:: Crestwood facilitated extensive media coverage across over 15 major media houses, including Citizen TV, NTV, Standard Group, Nation Media Group, and international outlets like Voice of America and Xinhua. Interviews with key sponsors and panellists further enriched the event’s narrative.
  • Nationwide Visibility: A bold, visually impactful billboard campaign was executed across Nairobi, highlighting Powerelec’s dates, theme, and sponsors such as Sungrow, JA Solar, and Collective Energy Africa. This generated widespread awareness in the lead-up to the event.
  • Live Event Coordination: On-ground management of a dedicated media desk ensured smooth registration, distribution of press kits, and facilitated high-impact interviews for platinum and gold sponsors, capturing sound bites that resonated in mainstream media.
  • Digital Footprint Expansion: Photos, video highlights, and recorded interviews were shared post-event, driving further engagement. The media archive link offered centralised access to all visual and editorial content for continued reference and outreach.
  • Narrative Framing: Core messaging emphasised Kenya’s renewable energy leadership, the economic potential of green growth, and the innovation needed to shape Africa’s energy future — all reflected consistently across media outlets.
